Job Description 

As a NDIS Community Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing high quality, person-centred support to participants on the NDIS scheme including social, community and recreational participation, in home support and daily living activities. 

  • Provide a standard of care that ensures the highest level of dignity, privacy, and respect for the individual always, adhering to principles and standards of NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme).
  • Undertake personal care tasks, such as dressing, toileting and feeding; light housework duties; social support and community access, other services as required by the care plan.
  • Provide appropriate support and care as identified by the individual, family, and the program coordinator within the client service plan.
  • Support the individual to actively participate in desired community activities.
  • To maintain time sheets, session records and other records as requested.
  • Submit all records at the designated times.
  • Ensure that the human rights of clients are observed and always upheld.
  • Mandatory reporting of suspected abuse in line with relevant legislation.

As part of our service plans, we would love to have someone who likes and is able to do some basic domestic assistance, supporting youth in home supports, school holiday programs and dealing with high intensity youth with specialist support from our advanced supports team. 

  • Provide 1:1 care with young individuals 

Immediate start for workers in the Southerland Shire Area, and Bankstown and Surrounding  Area 

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Certificate III in Disability, Community Services Studies, or related fields.
  • Experience in direct service provision for either individual with disabilities and their families.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to the rights of individuals with disabilities and people over 65.
  • Ability to work flexible hours Including short 2 hour shifts and long shifts (prior, during and after school).
  • Ability to work prior and after school plus shifts daily and weekends
  • Interested in supporting young individuals with behaviours and being a mentor to change lives.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of person-centred care and enablement.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one within three months of commencing employment.
  • A knowledge and commitment to the principles of normalisation, and to the National Disability Services Standards, Disability Inclusion Act 2014, and Home Care Standards.
  • Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting legislation and guidelines.
  • Class C Driver's Licence, ability to drive company vehicles including 12-seater van.
  • Own car with comprehensive car insurance.
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance
  • National criminal Records History Check.
  • Knowledge of current Work Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Covid-19 Vaccinations
